Your gift opens the pathway.
Give once, or monthly — monthly support is what lets us plan a full academic year.
Make a secure donation
Every gift supports documented program costs: village instruction, Kankor preparation, student welfare, and the accountable operations needed to sustain the work.
You'll confirm your amount and complete your gift on Zeffy's secure, encrypted page. Your payment details are never entered on this website. Zeffy's checkout also offers you the option to add a voluntary contribution to Zeffy itself — that part is entirely optional and you can set it to zero.
After you give
A receipt
Sent automatically for every gift at any amount, carrying our EIN and the wording the IRS requires to claim a deduction.
A note from a director
Written, not generated. For gifts of $250 or more, and for every first gift at any size.
Confirmation that monitoring has begun
One short message on the date we committed to, so you can check that the schedule is real before there is any data to show.
Your annual statement
Every gift from the prior calendar year, totalled, for your records and your tax preparer.
The first complete results cycle
A full year of program data, published whether or not it flatters us.
We do not sell, rent or share donor details, and we will not fill the gap before September 2027 with claims we cannot evidence — see how we report.

More routes of support.
Beyond one-time and monthly gifts, several other channels can carry your support further. Reach out and we'll help you set them up.
- Employer matching Many employers match charitable gifts dollar-for-dollar. As a 501(c)(3) public charity recognized by the IRS, we qualify for most matching programs — ask your HR team and we'll help with the paperwork.
- Gift by check We accept gifts by check. Contact us for current remittance instructions and the correct payee name before mailing. Request instructions
- Stock & donor-advised funds Gifts of appreciated securities and grants recommended through donor-advised funds are welcome. Tell us you're interested and we'll share transfer instructions. Register your interest
- Major & multi-year gifts For larger commitments, multi-year pledges, or wire and ACH transfers, our team will work with you directly and document any special intent. Talk with us
Tax status, processing, and transparency.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Nuristan Education Initiative is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. EIN: 41-5085112. Contributions from U.S. taxpayers are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. You'll receive an emailed receipt for every gift to keep for your records. As always, consult your own tax advisor about your particular situation.
Who processes my payment, and is it secure?
Payments are handled by Zeffy, a hosted, PCI-DSS-compliant donation platform, and its regulated payment partners. Your payment details are entered on their secure systems and are never stored on this website. This site is served entirely over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Why does checkout ask me to add a contribution to Zeffy?
Zeffy charges the Initiative nothing — no platform fee and no processing fee — so 100% of your gift reaches the Initiative, with nothing deducted in transit. Zeffy funds itself by inviting donors to add a voluntary contribution at checkout. That contribution goes to Zeffy, not to us, it is entirely optional, and you can set it to zero without affecting your gift. We'd rather tell you this plainly in advance than have it surprise you at checkout.
Can I give monthly instead of once?
Yes. Use the “Monthly partner” option at the top of the donation form. Recurring gifts give the programs the steady, predictable footing they need to plan teaching and the Kabul cohort. You can change or cancel a recurring gift at any time.
Can I direct my gift to a specific program?
Contributions are received by the Initiative, and the board retains discretion over final allocation across village teaching, the urban bridge cohort, administration, and compliance. That structure is deliberate: it is what allows us to move funds where they are most needed and to keep your contribution fully tax-deductible. If you have a particular interest in one part of the work, please write to us and we will tell you honestly how it is currently funded.
How will I know my gift was used well?
We publish our monitoring framework and our progress against stated goals. Donor-facing reporting relies on aggregate figures and never on identifiable student data, and our operating budget and financial statements are available to donors on request. See our Accountability page.
Questions before you give?
We'd rather have an honest conversation than a rushed gift. Reach out any time.
